We are a flat structured company, focused on becoming one of the most transparent companies in our field. In a world of many veils, we grant access to everything. In a world of pyramids, we level the playing field.
We share our story to inspire others to build organizational cultures that place people at the core of everything.
We love our flat structure because…
People organically gather and create groups aimed at solving problems. The purpose of a flat structure is to allow people with expertise and ideas to innovate, take the lead and change things.
We have a level of freedom that is rare in most companies. We are free to decide where and how we work, whether that’s from the office, our homes or a shack in the forest. If you spot a great deal on a flight to your favorite destination, you can take time off. We’re free to choose which conferences to attend and pick any online course or book that interests us. Of course, this freedom depends on being mindful of our clients, our team, and our work. We are all aiming to be managers of one here.
We can take initiative, without the curse of multiple layers of approval and this creates a stronger sense of ownership over the work we do.
All this leads to a supportive work environment and we often say we are a team of genuinely kind people. But it is more than being just nice or kind, because by removing ranks and hierarchies there is no need for backstabbing or stepping on others to get ahead.
We’ve created a culture where responsibility is shared, autonomy is encouraged, and growth is measured by contribution rather than rank.
But our flat structure wouldn’t thrive without transparency…
Because full transparency is the foundation for building trust and communication among ourselves. It ensures that everyone has the information they need to make the best decisions.
Transparency, when done right, is more than just sharing information. It's a cultural aspect that shapes how we make decisions, collaborate, and feel about our workplace. In a flat structure, we believe transparency is essential. When everyone has access to the same information, it levels the playing field and empowers individuals to contribute meaningfully to the company’s success.
For us, transparency is at the heart of our culture. Sharing business goals, financial data, and major decisions fosters collaboration. It also nurtures a sense of ownership across the company.
Our handbook, accessible to all, provides everything we know so anyone can learn, contribute, and grow. It is an online library with information about our processes, useful documents and guidelines. Through tools like AFIPs, anyone can influence how we work. Agile Freaks Improvement Proposal is a decision making process designed to involve everyone. We need to identify issues, propose solutions and vote for the implementation of said solutions.
It's easy to be transparent when things are going well, but true transparency shines when we face challenges. We share the good and the bad. By being upfront about difficulties, mistakes, and bad decisions, the team can come together to find solutions and fix what’s broken.
Transparency is a powerful tool for strengthening accountability. By continuing to focus on transparency in all aspects of our work, we aim to remain agile and innovative, no matter the challenges we face.
If this sounds like a culture you’d thrive in, connect with us on our career page.
For those in the industry, we’d love to hear from you and talk about innovative ways to put people at the center of what we do.
